World Cup 2026 Australia thread

Beach's point blank saves would suggest otherwise but I saw something about we are 0.05 conceded xg for all shots on target at the world cup so far. Or maybe it was total shots. Just got to keep Egypt at bay and we might be alright.
Yeah, I saw that stat too and can't find it again. I think it was total shots if you exclude own goals.

Wow - how good are video game mods these days. This is on a 6 year old game (which is the last of it's series)

Updated anthem animations (including lining up at the centre circle instead of facing the sidelines), adboards, ball, kits (players and referees), scoreboards - legit the whole shebang

Burgess harshly downgraded. Hrustic did nothing and wrong and played the match circumstances well with his channel play. Need to give halves. Herrington was so cool that a 4 is too much and a 3 is too much for Hrustic.

Bos is more a 3.5. One good game and Turkey was fine yet he rated lowest.

Leckie is a 1. Metcalfe a 5 suggest flawlessness. One top game, one involved half and one with a dazed head. 4.5 is fine.

I've become so focused on our squad I've forgotten Balard, Robertson and of all people Yazbek! It'd be very interesting to have them in the squad. I think they easily replace Leckie and a few others in a reshuffle.

The naarmgroid meme is funny, but where the heck does it come from

Not a single tat sleeve, no pedo moustaches, normal haircuts, no nail polish, no earrings

Some guy out there really looks like the naarmgroid meme and the poor guys dating prospects have been ruined for life

All that effort and build up to end like that. We didn't leave our best out there. The Turkey game is ours forever and was glorious. Just so disappointed we didn't take our chances against Egypt.

This doesn't seem to hurt as much as others. I feel we didn't leave it all out there. Some stupid lazy play. We had those very late chances with poor passes and movement.

🚨 Huge controversy surrounding Egypt!

In a shocking administrative error, Haitham Hassan was brought on as a substitute against Australia without completing the official switch of his sporting nationality from France to Egypt.

This could give Australia the right to file an official protest and potentially challenge the legality of the Real Oviedo winger’s participation.

Seeing this comment do the rounds from Arabic accounts. It's probably like the grass being too long.

It sounds fake but…

The one everyone forgets so quick is Luongo. I know he's older but he'd be perfect in the double pivot because he is so well rounded defensively and with his passing.

We may see Elder in the Asian Cup too depending on the severity of Bos knee injury.

I think he’s fallen down the Daniel Arzani path unfortunately. He needs more game time.

Well done to Beach on an excellent tournament. Some newfound confidence and depth in goal.

A spectacular late save. The fact of the matter is however a lot of the saves were right at him. It's a shame he couldn't parry the Egyptian header with two hands to his right. He's had the benefit of the best ever world cup defence in front of him.

I don't think he saves anything we conceded in 2018. We'll never know how he would've gone in the shoot out but the confidence would've been useful.
