I don't want our main players training for over a month before the first game, on top of playing 2 intense games. Playing a physical Mexico (not a smart idea from FootballAus).

It's only so dooming for us, because we have like 5-6 very key players and a lot of them happen to be injury prone and without them, the World Cup chance of success cuts in half.

Soft tissue injuries should not be happening in training period. Or at least only a very low percentage of them. Training lets you manage loads and intensity that you can't in games. Regular soft tissue injuries in training only happens to teams with poor fitness staff.
 
Segecic is one of only 3 players in the Championship this season who is aged 22 or under and who scored more than 10 goals (along with Will Lankshear and Jordan James who both also scored 11). Popovic more focused on playing 36 year old Brattan and 33 year old Caceres. Could bring himself to start Brattan in a cut throat qualifier against Japan but didn't see fit to even bring Segecic on off the bench in either of 2 friendlies against New Zealand after him flying across from the other side of the world. You've got to earn the jersey... unless you're Brattan, Italiano or Herrington in which case you just walk into the starting team! The bloke is a walking contradiction. Who will be the next Segecic or Triantis?

One thing you will need to accept is that players like Segecic and Triantis (and a few before them and I'm sure a few to follow) made a concious choice to play for another country. It was they that signed the paperwork. Perhaps you should ask yourself why it is that some players get a run when they first come into the squad and some don't. It may have something to do with what goes on during the training sessions before the match.

Popovic and the FA have taken zero responsibility for this. I hope internally they're reflecting on what a catastrophic fuck up the whole process has been and how it was handled.

I'm equally frustrated that the bigger media agencies have not raised the issue and even leant into ostracising the players - which was fuckin ordinary imo.

I think there needs to be pressure on the FA about this, why it is the role of the coach to look after dual nationals (it shouldn't be), and why we have no strategic oversight by a technical director. Is the technical director position vacant or have they gotten rid of it?

Starting to wonder if this is Popovic himself. Keep trying to defend the indefensible buddy! Yup, you're right and everyone else is wrong. Keep telling yourself that.

The media should criticise them too but we got not much to no football media, in a real football country Popovic along with the FA would get smashed for this.

Most Australian fans only follow EPL and UCL so if Segecic is scoring 11 goals in the Premier League or become like Cahill Viduka or Kewell then yeah everyone might have a go at FA & Popovic. But he is still playing in the Championship so most people just don't care about him.

On the other hand, since he switched the national team the media just cut him off from the news.
