Considering that we're constantly debating socceroos call ups and other things in here I don't think it matters too much.

My point is that Souter is a significant risk if thrown in against elite players coming off high-intensity seasons. It is inevitable that he will lack sharpness.

Personally I would start Burgess, Herrington, and Circatti. Souter on the bench. At least for the first couple of games. I don't think he is a better player than any of those 3.My feeling is that some overrate him. However, if we are chasing a goal late in the game, he can be a really useful weapon coming off the bench.

He has at least another 6 weeks to get match fit, if he is not already. Didn’t he just play 108 minutes or something?

I guess it's all risk. Souttar's lack of match minutes is a concern. So is Herrington's lack of experience. Burgess propensity for defensive errors creating scoring opportunities.

Souttar has shown he can perform off minimal match time so I'm not too concerned about it. I'd have Souttar ahead of Burgess on ability and Herrington on experience.

I think we're lucky to have 4 quality CBs. There's probably not a bad or wrong answer to which back 3 to pick, unless Circati's left out.

If he was that sharp in a Championship return game then he'll be even sharper after 5 weeks of pre world cup camp and 2 friendlies. Even at his sharpest he may cost us a goal as the law of averages will do to any player.

Burgess is after the world cup own goal golden boot knowing his bad luck.
