With such a poor showing in the Honiara hub, the problem is what do we do for the Fiji hub.
The millions $ question... do we decide to play full vs preston and light vs choakleigh? Allowing us to do same vs auckland (light) and other games semi full to cement the second spot?
We have Preston and Oakleigh in the NPL where we need full strength teams, but we still need another 2-3 wins in the OFC Pro League to lock in second or third spot.

I am not sure we are allowed to send our Under23 team to Fiji, as it must be from the 23 man squad submitted at the start of the OFC Pro League season.
Well that complictaes it
MessiR, Lackay, pope, leech, charlseton, Inglese, Singh, Cox, burchmore, coveny, menelaou... thats 11 and throw in trenkov and some a team fringe?

Looks like the U23s are gonna have to shine again tomorrow...

If that is the case, then the starting XI against Dandenong Thunder may be:

Lopez
O'Sullivan
Jankovic
Eliopoulos
Lampard
Saristavros
Bonada
Skapoulas
Dovison
Angelatos
Papadimitriou
Killick

The above depends on whether any of squad that played on Thursday night against Solomon Kings play 30-45 minutes. We've got 6 first team starters in that line up, so its not as bad as it was against Altona Magic. I am hoping that Mikkola is well enough to play.

Mikkola will feature tomorrow..

Our juniors can hold Preston in the midifield but NOT Oakleigh.
Preston’s midfield would destroy our junior’s/23’s. Unsure on the timeframe of Koubilay and Adekoubi’s return either. Need Pasquali and Giannokopolous together in midfield vs them or I fear we’ll get walked over.

The biggest question I have for tonight’s match is who is going to play in midfield??

Leech, Pope, Menelaou, Pasquali, and Giannakopoulos would have returned home last night tired.

Some players are going to need to back it up again tonight. You won’t get more than 30 minutes out of them.

That’s correct. Our Under 23s are no match for the Preston midfield. We can get away with it against the likes of Bentleigh, Altona, and Gully. But not against a championship winning contender like Preston.

If that’s the case, then we should have a Starting XI that might look like:

That’s 6 first team starters, which is encouraging. We may need some of the guys who played OFC Pro League to chip in with 20-30 minutes as well.

Lampard is back. Throw him into the mix...

Dandenong Thunder 2-0 up against South at the hour mark after two goals in quick succession to Laat Manyec and Jackson Courtney-Perkins.

We could have been up at the half with a bit of luck but with so many outs as soon as you fall behind you aint coming back. Hopefully we dont cop more.

Must win against dandy city at home.

Dandenong Thunder extend their lead to 3-0 near the end of regulation time with Ali Sulemani scoring in the 89th minute.

No more half arsed lineups. It has now proven they wont work, pick where who plays moving forward and come out and say it so we fans also know what the focus is... the last 3 games have been an absolute joke!

Long term the convincing loss we needed and will hopefully show the club that our squad is not good enough for 2 comps.
This cqnnot be fhanged in OFC but a remedy with focus on NPL and AU championship will have to be in place mid year transfer window.... do you kmow if this tike round there will be another window pre AU championship?
Our best team has to stay here in April. Nevermind the defeats we could be losing by 6+ against better teams. We've been blessed to play shitkickers like altona and gully.
They need to weigh it up and know and which key games they will focus on.

Its a ton of games

Watching osaussies for years it can often be a couple of years before bodies adjust to that many games in a year.

You often go backwards before going forwards.

Adjusting the squad too to make there be less of a gap between the back ups and best xi takes time too

The obvious problem is that we simply have no continuity, team cant build any chemistry. Its a real mess

By the time we play dandy city it will almost be a month since our best team played together.

What we are doing isnt sustainable.

This has been a very costly week, fucked up in honiara and handed thunder a first win...shit will really hit the fan if Tolios orchestrates an upset against us.

I get that and in theory wouldnt doubt what you are saying bc i agree. but it seems in this situation its less an issue of adjustment, as it is one of depth itself.. i think we dropped the ball regarding the need for depth and ended up with a chaotic difference between starters and backups which is not something any amount of time can fix, simply bc the calibre of recruitment was in truth overly poor!

We knew off bat, how many games we would play in all comps, so why then, were the only worthy addition Cox and (the fintres risky) Eliopoulos to replace Marshal?? I get some are young projects (Coveny, Charlston), the rest though are below sub par.. Lackay, Swibel, Singh, (in what paralled universe are they replacements for Aguek or Lavalle is a question for the ages) Who decided Trenkov could be a worthy backup for Javi??? Or that 'a raw' Coveny was enough as backup for our centre backs for 2 comps? This decision alone has cost us more than any other bc for the most part it has forced us to sacrifice our midfield bite having to waste Giannakop in defence for too many games!

All we needed to do was replace Marshal (tick Eliopoulos), find another centre back bc of injury risks (young fringe) that would also push Janko & Eliop for a spot even when playing with Inglese in lineup! Brought in another MF and 2 proper strikers (or 1 striker and a floating forward)! All your money couldve gone here and been complemented by existing younger talents across the park to play as required...

When you sign players just for depth then your not getting better unless they are of similar calibre to those already there!
