I stepped down from First Grade a few seasons ago for the same thing. It happens in youth and seniors.

I'm Portuguese, I was at a Portuguese club and the player was Portuguese. I get it.

With my experience in coaching, it isn't always about nationality.. its more the connections. If a player is connected to a board member or someone that volunteers at the club then someone will be asking you for a favour, whether that is to pick them in a squad or play them.
